Magical Mermaid Shaker Card using Stampin' Up! products

Usually, I plan which products I want to buy based on my upcoming classes, or on the projects I will need it for. That's how I decide what I'm getting versus what I want to buy (which is almost everything!) But, every now and then, there is a stamp set that I just have to have; it was the case for this Magical Mermaid stamp set. So I did, and then it stayed on my shelf for several months. I just did not know what to do with it. I loved the images, but I couldn't come up with a card design with it. I just felt like something was missing.
Until, I saw the special article about shaker cards in the demonstrator publication of Stampin' Success. There was a shaker card using the mermaid and I knew it was the perfect way to use her!
I had even been planning to make some shaker cards, since I had circle foam dimensionals and sequins left from previous Paper Pumpkin kits.

So here is my version of the shaker card with the mermaid. I've used Tranquil Tide and Rich Razzleberry. It's hard to tell on the photo but I added clear Wink of Stella on the tail as well. That was an afterthought addition, when of my customers at Technique Class had such a beautiful watercolour job on her mermaid (better than mine!) and I thought, all you're missing is sparkle!
I love this about the Wink of Stella, it's super easy to add it to a project that's already put together. For these times when you look at your card and think... it's just missing a little something... Ah! Sparkle! Hehe!

Is there a stamp set, like this, that stayed on your shelf for a while until inspiration struck? I'd love to know which one!

Nature's Poem Card Stack using Stampin' Up! products

I am in love with the Nature's Poem suite! Look at those gorgeous colours, those soft natural images, and those amazing patterns! It is exactly my style and I was SO excited when I saw it. I just had to order the whole suite. (See it on p.142-144 of the Annual Catalogue) The suite includes: a double stamp set (10 images + 6 sentiments), coordinating Framelit Dies, 4 colour Twine pack, Silver and Copper metallic leaf trinkets, Cardstock Pack, and the Designer Series Paper. Shop the products  here.    I decided to make a whole stack of cards with the suite, using two basic designs. It is so easy to mix and match products and colours from the suite, that I was able to create several cards very easily. I chose to work with 4 different coulours (Tranquil Tide, Cajun Craze, Grapefruit Grove, Soft Suede) but there are so many other beautiful colours in this suite! For the card design above, I cut the DSP into a mat size (4 x 5-1/4) and for the card design ...

Using Up Scraps - Stampin' Up! products Pick a Pattern Suite

Making a card shouldn't always be complicated! Actually, I would say that my cards are usually the sweet & simple type, but that one goes beyond. In fact, I was just playing around with this paper (Pick a Pattern Designer Series Paper) and I found a couple of scraps, left over from previous projects. I prepared a card base (I used Crushed Curry), stamped a sentiment form the coordinating stamp set (Emerald Envy), I punched it and added everything to the card. The more "advanced" part is the little bear that I added on top. I coloured him lightly with the AquaPainter (Sahara Sand) and fussy cut around the lines. I adhered all the pieces at an angle, making a cluster around the sentiment, and voila! I didn't even have to measure anything, and I just picked the colours that were featured on the DSP, so no guesswork there either. Coordinating products makes crafting SO easy, don't you think? What creative ways have you found to use leftovers on a project? I...

Stampin' Up! is known for their extensive colour collections and coordination. We have 4 families of 10 unique, gorgeous colours: Neutrals, Regals, Brights, and Subtles. To add variety and ensure they are always on trend, Stampin' Up! also releases 5 new colours every year, for a period of 2 years, we call those InColors. Discovering what will be the 5 new colours chosen every year is always a very exciting time for demonstrators and other enthusiast. These colors are revealed with the annual catalogue, in July.  This year's colours are: Lovely Lipstick, Grapefruit Grove, Pineapple Punch, Call Me Clover, and Blueberry Bushel. They are very bright and lively colours, and they go together very well, which isn't always the purpose of these additions. I usually change my mind on which one is my favourite over time, but for now, I really love the shade of Grapefruit Grove. I wanted to make a sample of cards to showcase these new colours, and chose to make small...
